Position Overview
The Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic is seeking a compassionate, mission‑driven Contract Dentist to join our well‑regarded nonprofit clinic in the mountains of Western North Carolina. This role is ideal for a dentist who loves clinical work, enjoys variety, and wants to make a meaningful impact—without the burden of administrative tasks, billing, or practice management.

About the Clinic
For 20 years, the Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic has provided high‑quality emergency, restorative, and preventative dental care at no cost to patients across five Western North Carolina counties. With over 76,000 procedures performed and 23,000 patient visits, our clinic is a cornerstone of oral health equity in the region.
Our team includes 25 volunteer dentists, part-time hygienists, and skilled dental assistants who support both clinical care and community outreach.
Essential Clinical Responsibilities
Examine patients seeking dental care and diagnose dental/oral conditions.
Provide high‑quality emergency, restorative, and preventative treatment in accordance with clinic protocols.
Develop treatment plans that support the fullest restoration of each patient’s oral health.
Collaborate with volunteer dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants to ensure excellent patient care.
Educate patients on oral health conditions, treatment options, and prevention strategies.
Refer patients for specialty care when appropriate.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
Note: This role includes no administrative, billing, or practice‑management responsibilities.
Qualifications
Commitment to compassionate, patient‑centered care for a high‑risk, underserved population.
Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of current dental practices and procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a small, mission‑driven clinical team.
Licensure & Credentials
Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in North Carolina
Current CPR (BLS) certification
North Carolina DEA registration
Schedule & Compensation
Per diem role: 1–2 days per week
