The Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic is seeking a Front Desk Coordinator for its well-regarded nonprofit free dental clinic in the Western North Carolina mountains. Located in Cashiers, NC, the Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic's mission is to deliver high-quality emergency, restorative, and preventative dental care to people who cannot otherwise afford these critically needed services. Position Summary The Front Desk Coordinator is the first point of contact for our patients and visitors. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment, managing patient flow, and supporting the dental team with administrative needs.
Key Responsibilities:
● Warmly greet patients, visitors, and volunteers in person and over the phone
● Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments using clinic software
● Check in and check out patients, ensuring all forms and documentation are complete
● Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
● Answer general questions about the clinic’s services and policies
● Assist with patient intake, updating records, and verifying eligibility when required
● Communicate appointment changes and patient updates to dental staff
● Help manage waiting area and ensure it is tidy and welcoming
● Perform general office duties such as scanning, data entry, and mailing
● Running errands for emerging supply needs, ordering and picking up volunteer lunches
● Support special projects and events as needed
Qualifications: ● High school diploma or equivalent (some college or medical/dental office experience preferred) ● Friendly, patient-centered attitude and strong interpersonal skills ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills ● Ability to multitask in a busy environment ● Comfortable with computers and learning new software ● Access to reliable transportation ● Commitment to the mission of serving underserved communities ● Spanish language experience preferred
Working Conditions: ● Full-time hours Monday - Friday; occasional Saturdays may be required for special events or extended clinic hours. ● Fast-paced, team-oriented clinic ● Regular interaction with diverse populations
Compensation: Salary range $18-22 per hour, commensurate with experience; generous paid time off; benefits may include health insurance.
